Toronto | Diner En Blanc Toronto 2019
Intentionally posting this now because it’s officially labour day and screw fashion rules that limit your wardrobe – HAH! Everyone’s favourite Parisian fête made its way through Toronto for the eighth consecutive year and this year’s Le Dîner en Blanc – Toronto was nothing short of magical. Having the blog for 10 years now, I’ve had my fair share of local and global events – and there are few that I genuinely look forward to. DEB is one of them.
Dressed in white from head to toe, Toronto’s DEB keeps with tradition guests donning their all-white outfits for the evening’s festivities. A little backgrounder for those of you with no clue what DEB is: Launched by François Pasquier in 1988, Le Dîner en Blanc® de Paris has celebrated 30 years of wonder, elegance & etiquette with its mass picnic-style gathering. Every year in cities around the world, thousands of people dressed entirely in white descend on a landmark public space with everything they need for an elegant soirée in tow, including folding table and chairs, gourmet picnic food, fine china, silverware, and tablecloth. Over the course of the evening, the guests eat and celebrate amid live music and dancing. The event offers the perfect occasion to express their unique fashion and design style; the often elaborate and creative outfits, fantastical hats, and decorative table settings are always a fabulous spectacle. The surprise component of the event, you never know where it’s going to be – at the last minute, the secret location is revealed to thousands who have been patiently waiting to learn where “Dîner en Blanc” will take place.
New this year – and a Le Dîner en Blanc first – is a special catering option brought to guests via catering partner Food Dudes entitled “Market Experience” whereby guests can curate their menu ahead of time via the event’s e-store, then collect their chosen items at a mini Parisian-style market on-site.
