Fashion | Parajumpers JOSH Jacket Bomber #PJSFriends
Compared to recent years, this winter has been been pretty cold. Remember those horrific few days during the holidays where temps dipped to -22 with the windchill?! Brutal. But we’re in Canada – it gets freaking cold! Frankly, I love the cold, a Latino cold-loving weirdo that rejoices whenever it snows and gets excited for having to wear any form of layered pieces.
Listen, if you’re dressed effectively against the cold, winter really is a fun time. From thick wool socks & thermal underwear to chunky knits and appropriate outerwear – you’re set. Appropriate outerwear is a critical one – I get into arguments with people and clients because they choose to disregard that! Hello this is your core, your body’s essentials organs and largest part of your body that needs protection from the elements. Last winter I had the opportunity to test out a Parajumpers jacket, the Gobi jacket and frankly, I’ve never looked back. A functional, down-filled jacket with sustainable fur that not only has me looking fresh af I’m warm boo!
Here’s a little refresher for those of you that forgot – and if you’re just joining us, here’s the PJS story:
THE INSPIRATION
The men of the 210th Rescue Squadron, based in Anchorage, Alaska, are highly trained for extreme rescues and recoveries in the wildest, most remote and hostile corners of the Globe. Whether it be ships adrift at sea, rock-climbers stuck atop a 4,000-meter peak, or submariners sunk at unimaginable depths, these men are called to intervene.
They are the PJs – short for PARAJUMPERS. Tough and courageous, they are better trained than any other military corps, but most important, they use their skills and techniques to save lives.
THE BRAND
Parajumpers is a project deriving from the cooperation between Ape and designer Massimo Rossetti, who has many years of experience as a designer of outerwear, and also as an importer of American brands for the Italian market.
A meeting with a serving member of the 210th Rescue Squadron in an ill-famed bar in Anchorage, Alaska provided inspiration for Massimo Rossetti’s latest creation.
The result is an extremely innovative outerwear collection with highly technological components, designed above all else to be functional.
With the season transitioning it’s certainly NOT warm enough to wear a soft shell or light weight piece; I fell hard for this leather bomber. Dubbed the JOSH, the bomber is constructed using waxed lambskin with polyester padding, a double collar with the external one made of leather while the internal one is detachable shearling. The result: this nod to aviation’s flight jacket.
