Toronto | The One of a Kind Spring Show and Sale 2013
Spring has finally arrived inToronto and I had the pleasure of visiting The One of a Kind Show for the first time at the Direct Energy Centre. Greeted by colour, flowers and a sense of fun – OOAKS has something for everyone!
From food to fashion, every vendor I stopped to speak with was friendly and approachable – how could I not tell you to go after having such a great time? Stand out booths that should be checked out and had me giggling were the funny and sometimes crass cards by Hug and Kiss Designs. I’m a dying breed that still send notes and greeting cards for just about everything, naturally, I was immediately smitten! Hand drawn and authentically Canadian, I found myself wanting to buy each and every one of them; the cards are a great surprise for the person looking to send a smile and have a good laugh at the same time.
I’m not quite sure how to describe Nugs, so I’ll use their description; reasonably sized monsters! Yes, you read that correctly, little monsters! Nick Sianchuk’s hand made polymer figurines are the cutest of the cute. These little guys have a collectible feeling while still being a durable toy for kids of all ages.
I’m a sucker for great branding and when you produce something that catches my eye you’ve already have bonus points! Now, combine on-point packaging with a great product; than you have gold! C is for Clean household cleaning products are made right here in the GTA with each product being vinegar based providing a real eco-friendly alternative.
The quotable canvas bags by Pamela Barsky had me giggling at the end of the day. Silk screened and quirky, these all purpose bags vary from inspirational to sassy and are a cute gift idea for anyone in your life or as a special treat to yourself.
The One of a Kind Spring show is a definite must see and runs this whole weekend. And if you don’t have time, there is always next year! Or better yet the Christmas Show comes sooner at the end of this year!
