It’s not news that I love shoes – like a serious obsession. And I know that we’re always throwing around ‘obsessed‘ for just about everything but my love affair with footwear stems from childhood when my mother instilled (drilled, actually) the proper care for my shoes. Your dress shoes should always be polished. Tie your laces so they don’t get worn. Stop dragging your feet. Julio, are you homeless? – address those salt stains. Being in the #blessed position I’m in now, where I’m lucky to get my hands on some amazing footwear — I have an impressive shoe closet. One that I maintain and I’m very (thanks to mom) proud to display.
Enter Clarks — a British shoemaker since 1825, known not only for their craftsmanship but also their innovative technologies incorporated into their shoes. Things get better – Clarks is opening their first-ever North American pop up shop right here in Toronto called Clarks Edit.
Located at Bay and Bloor, Clarks Edit will be open from October through January 2016, showcasing a curated range of the brand’s products for the autumn/winter months. This season highlights boots for all occasions from the quintessentially British brand, recognized around the world for its stylish shoes that are a pleasure to wear. Additionally, the original Clarks Desert Boot, designed in 1949, and the largest assortment of Clarks Originals in the country will be available under one roof. The store will also feature a personal Clarks Desert Boot embossing station, and a limited edition collaboration with Herschel Supply Co.
All that said and done – you guys have to hit up the pop up because it’s brilliant; with its inviting atmosphere of warm wood paneling and subtle earth tones, the space feels more like a Clarks boutique than pop up. Located at 77 Bloor St. West the space is open and will be in town until January of the new year! Run, don’t walk!
