Style & Technology | Huawei Watch 2

Whenever a new wearable launches – better yet, whenever I have the privilege to test one out; it’s like a kid with cake. I can’t wait to open it up and go to town!  And yes, throughout the years you’ve seen the occasional post regarding a new phone, tech goody or home appliance – and I by no means consider myself an expert when it comes to technology. But I know I good thing when I see it.

I know, I know – I’m not going to sit here and go through specs of things but I HAVE to share my time with the HUAWEI WATCH 2. The HUAWEI WATCH 2 isn’t available in Canada BUT seeing that we have an ongoing relationship with Huawei and all you as a global audience – I was one of the few international partners to test it out!

Launched at Mobile World Congress 2017 and using the latest research result and development from tech innovator Huawei, the watch combines the connectivity of a smartphone, the smarter living applications of a premium smartwatch and the detailed performance coaching and tracking of a leading sports tracking device, all in the form of a stylish classical wristwatch.

HUAWEI WATCH 2 inherits the classic design of the original HUAWEI WATCH while introducing new innovations in every category to better empower users’ spirit of exploration and help them enjoy an active lifestyle.

Many of you know, I’m not the super active type  but having a busy day to day with work, clients, events & a personal life – I can’t always be by my phone so I love that the HUAWEI WATCH 2 gives me the freedom to explore while staying connected, without having to be glued to my mobile device.

I’ve used it to track my heart rate whilst running and I have to say the accuracy is spot on in comparison to other wearables I’ve used in the past. If you’re the working out type,  here’s what you need to know about the HUAWEI WATCH 2; it uses multiple sensors with advanced algorithms to provide fitness solutions and make working out more efficient and effective. Built-in smart sensors collect comprehensive data on user activity, including: distance, speed, steps, heart rate, heart rate range, calories, route and more.

With one click on the crown, the watch opens the workout app to start training in an instant. Quick start modes like “fat-burning run” and “cardio run” allow runners to begin tracking instantly and the watch will guide your speed to stay in the correct heart rate zone. Running with the watch enables you to get real time guidance including notifications on distance, target completion status and racing heart warning. Based on calculated workout plans, it can also notify you to either accelerate or decelerate, guiding you through every stage of your run.  After a run the watch automatically generates a report that advises on recovery time and the impact of your workout.

Other supporting elements include the built in GPS that tracks your exercise route; and just when you thought your work out couldn’t better – the HUAWEI WATCH 2 also allows you to add music to your workout through the Google Play Music app, meaning you can download songs, stream music and access playlists.

Beyond just exercise, HUAWEI WATCH 2 promotes healthy living all day. The Daily Tracking App accurately tracks daily steps, records time taken for medium to high intensity exercises, and detects the number of times you stand up after long sedentary periods. All this information is reported via progress bars to encourage a healthier and more active life. Your active and resting heart rate is continuously monitored in the background with a report available of the last 6 hours.

Having most of the capabilities & notifications that my phone receives at an instant allows me to create a seamless day without the worry of missing a call or critical email. The HUAWEI WATCH 2 has become a daily tool that’s proved itself vital without compromising battery life, aesthetics and functionality.
