Lifestyle | Working Out With Harley Pasternak & Fitbit Alta

It’s not often that I actually work out, I’m not going to sit here and lie to all of you that my excuse is lack of time, because it’s not. I don’t work because I hate it. I’m lazy and working out isn’t even a thought process in my daily routine. So that’ll set the mood in this blog post on whether or not I was looking forward to getting my ass handed to me by celebrity fitness trainer, Harley Pasternak.

Pasternak, a Toronto native and recognized trainer sought after by the likes of Alicia Keys, Jennifer Hudson, Megan Fox and Lady Gaga; was in town to lead a workout to kick the asses of a select few (Not literally, but he might as well have because my lower body felt as though it got the beating of its life the following three days). And asses were the subject matter of the rainy Thursday morning, with Pasternak leading us from the initial Sport Chek Maple Leaf Square meetupthrough a brisk walk into the PATH system, ending at the studio space of the Toronto Athletic Club.

The names of all these leg & butt exercises are a blur because I was too busy trying to keep consciousness from the up & down, skipping-on-the-spot-with-my-eyes-closed to the across-the-room-lunge-competitions that THANKFULLY my long legs gave me an advantage to. But 15 minutes in and my legs felt like a bowl of luke-warm Jello on a warm afternoon – struggling to stand. Upon almost completing the class, I didn’t completely hate it, I actually had a lot of fun despite my poor attempts at appearing semi-athletic.

But enough about me. Why did I show up that day? What brought me out to be served in the manner that didn’t involve me being served pizza? One simple compound word: Fitbit

Celebrating the launch of two new devices with the Fitbit Blaze at the Fitbit Alta; Fitbit continues to help people lead healthier, more active lives by empowering them with data, inspiration & guidance to reach their goals. And as I get older, I have come to realize the importance of being conscious about my physical health and well being. So the addition of the slick Fitbit Alta (below) is a welcomed one. And yes, we all remember my stance on wearable technology but I’ve come to appreciate them and I’m glad that many are updating their aesthetics for those who choose to be selective with what they put on their body.
