Ad Campaign | Roots #sweatstyle Fall 2014 by Ilich Mejia
Probably one of my proudest accomplishments to date; I star as one of the models for Roots. Like, major company; Roots Canada. A brand recognized not only in Canada but around the world and synonymous with Canadian culture.
Roots is celebrating 41 years of Canadian style in one of their most recognized ways – their sweats! Comfortable, classic and always versatile. I have to admit I never wore much of the relaxed aesthetic when I was younger but have seen myself experimenting as I’ve gotten older and it helps that this whole sportswear trend is strong and well.
Roots asked some of their favourite stylemakers and influencers (honoured to be considered one) to share our #sweatstyle and put together looks that best represented us and the iconic sweats. Obviously, yours truly needs leather in just about every outfit – so a leather jacket was a no brainer. And you have to remember that Roots’ leather is also top tier when it comes to quality – and it lasts forever. I fell in love with that biker I wore (below) from this season’s Fall 2014 collection.
I do have to thank Roots for this wonderful experience and the team behind this – I had an amazing time. Probably one of the easiest and most hilarious roster of people. Top notch photoshoot team to work with – Patrick, Anna and of course photographer, Ilich Mejia who also happens to be Guatemalan like me! WHAAAT! And a huge thank you to the donation on my behalf to the Toronto Humane Society whom I regard in admiration for their work and compassion for animals; both wild & domestic. Truly, thank you.

I spotted myself at Yorkdale Shopping Centre’s Roots store window. Honestly, so surreal. Weird even, but totally awesome!
