Fashion News | Francisco Costa For Calvin Klein X Macy’s

Calvin Klein Inc. has recently announced that they’ll be joining the group of growing designers designing a capsule collection for a fast fashion department store.
The special edition capsule collection marks Francisco Costa’s first dress offering for a national retailer. The women’s Creative Director’s, collection will be called, “A Magical Journey to Brasil,” a colourful spring line highlighting Costa’s Brazilian heritage.
“I am excited and proud to participate in Macy’s special campaign highlighting my native Brazil,” says Costa. “This fresh, youthful line of dresses reflects both my roots and the modern, yet timeless spirit of Calvin Klein.”
Influenced by modern Brazilian architecture, the dresses feature pure lines and clean shapes for an effortless look. Inspired by modern city life, the sportswear was graphic and textured in an iconic palette of black and bone. For the complementing accessories, it was all about the sophisticated clutch and boot. Calvin Klein’s Italo Zucchelli showcased the men’s Fall 2012 collection with a wide variety of textures, fabrics and the brand’s signature colour palettes.

Editorial | ‘A New Dawn’ i-D Magazine #314

I normally blog about the most recent editorials and magazine covers, but I stepped back a couple issues with i-D magazine’s Pick Me Up issue #314.
Clément Chabernaud & Natasha Poly star in the story A New Dawn, photographed by Willy Vanderperre and styled by Olivier Rizzo. The sultry duo wear pieces by Jil Sander.
Sexy, sexy - and I love Clément’s scruff! So hot!

Photographer, Justin Wu takes on a new project, something different from the typical high paced behind the scenes model shorts during the world’s Fashion Weeks.
Wu directs and produces his latest film titled, ETHOS - starring model/actor, Nick Bateman. The local Toronto model has taken part in various LGFW shows, stared as the face for an Abercrombie & Fitch ad campaign and walked & modeled events in good old Toronto. [Edited]
I’ve spent many shows backstage, filming and snapping shots and never once has he ever been approachable, let alone amicable. [That approachability factor has since changed see how Bateman & I discussed this] Asides modeling and acting, Bateman holds the title as a world martial arts champion. [Edited]
Special shout out to Danny Nguyen who was the set photographer for the shoot - rising star, so keep your eye on him! Oh, and while you’re at it, follow him on Twitter.

Edited December 28, 2011
This post has since been edited due to my choice words of arrogance, cockiness & jackass because Bateman himself approached me regarding the post and apologized for any past moments of social misconduct and I did too for saying what I said. I know, I’ve never gone back to edit anything in my past years, but it really struck a cord in me that Bateman had the balls to resolve the misconception and I both admire and respect that. Especially how many of you know me always being portrayed as a jerk myself when I’m far from it. Actually…kidding!
Shopping | Holiday Gift Guide 2011
The holidays are here and I’ve got an assortment of gift ideas for you to potentially give to that last person on your list you have no idea what to get! Whether it’s the hostess with the mostest or difficult-to-please coworker, I’m providing practical, fashion forward items!

Umbro releases it’s capsule Speciali 92 collection -celebrating it’s 20th anniversary of its iconic football boot. First up the classic silhouette of the Anthem Jacketis reinvented and crafted from soft leather. The jacket features flat knit rib trim on the collar and a tonal black Umbro double diamond logo on the chest. In addition, the lining features a digital print which details key Speciali moments.

I had to incorporate another item from the ultra-limited edition collection (some items are numbered only up to 92 like the ball and 1992 like the leather shoe) next up a soft leather weekend bag with alloy studs on the base to protect the full grain leather. The bag also has an interior screen, printed with iconic Speciali moments in soccer history. Speciali ’92 is available at Umbro online, In2Sports in the GTA and will soon be available on their website www.in2sports.ca - and they ship nationwide!

This Holiday Season, give the gift of celebration in a bottle with Campari and Aperol! These trendy Italian aperitifs are a unique gift alternative to a bottle of wine or champagne, giving your host or hostess a chance to try something new.
For the host with a sophisticated palate, Campari served on the rocks with a splash of soda is a classic Italian concoction that is both luxe and refreshing. This delicious, red bitter was developed in 1860 and is still served in its original bottle! Aperol, Italy’s #1 spirit is brand spanking new to the Canadian market. Slightly bittersweet, Aperol is perfect for the Holidays with its unique citrus taste. Be sure to tell your hostess to try Aperol’s signature drink, the Spritz (a mix of equal parts Aperol, Prosecco and soda). Nothing says, “thanks for your hospitality” quite like an elegant bottle of Aperol!

If you boys have that special someone that is willing to dish out a little more for you then Calvin Klein’s line of timeless watches would be a good option. The ck city watch is understated elegance - with an over-sized rose gold PVD case and traditional brown leather strap. Suggested retail price: $295 available at independent fine jewelry retailers and select The Bay stores.
Event | Calvin Klein Store Launch With Joe Jonas

Tucked away in Toronto’s north eastern corner where Fairview Mall is located, Calvin Klein decided to open their latest store. With added publicity thanks to Joe Jonas the opening was pandemonium! This marks the third Calvin Klein retail location in Canada, (previously in Marché Central in Montreal and Heartland Town Centre, also here in Ontario), with a total of forty (yes, 40!!) stores planned to be opened in the next five years! Ambitious, Calvin Klein, especially with a flailing retail market! But I have faith in anything Klein!

Calvin Klein’s Global Creative Director, Kevin Carrigan (whom we totally hit it off as friends), and Calvin Klein Inc.’s President & CEO, Tom Murray were also on hand to celebrate the grand opening! The new Calvin Klein store spans over 6,100 square feet, and offers a full range of men’s and women’s apparel, jeanswear, underwear and accessories, footwear, eyewear and fragrance. The men’s and women’s sportswear and jeanswear offerings are all designed under the direction of Kevin Carrigan.
The store interior follows the new concept design for Calvin Klein stores. The unique spaces are multi-dimensional and incorporate sleek materials with rich, tactile finishes and black and white coloration throughout, in keeping with the brands’ over-arching aesthetic.

The Calvin Klein team sent over a town car for me and it whisked me from one of my Starbucks locations up to Fairview Mall. Having never been to Fairview I wasn’t sure what to expect from the mall, but from what I briefly saw it looked pretty fresh! But I was one of the first media outlets to arrive and I saw the line up of, mostly girls in front of the store - some waiting since 5:00 AM that morning. I entered the store, but to some gasps of outrage and complaints from the girls waiting behind me. I giggled.
Unfortunately for me, Jonas who was performing after 6 that evening, (and my car was scheduled to drive me back into the city at 6) had to miss him take the stage and getting out of the store wasn’t as easy as getting out! The 150 girls that received wrist bands to get in were inside around 6 and the unfortunate hundreds more that weren’t allowed in, clammered the security and the front of the store! Below is the sea of girls, body guards had to escort me out of! Not going to lie it was pretty awesome scream out “Joe!!” to me when the doors opened, I was just like, “I’m not Joe girls!” I had my sunglasses on so I guess when your 14 and extremely excited I look like Joe?!

I’ll have more pictures sent with me in and around the store later - look out for that post!
