Music | Julie C. Steady Ground Album Launch

Julie C.celebrated her sophomore album launch, Steady Ground with friends, family and a select group of media at an intimate and interactive concert at The Rivoli.
The Montreal native wowed and got the crowd jumping with a mix of songs from both her first and recent albums. A total treat to watch live; I say this because Julie can actually sing live, extremely well compared to other artists! It’s so refreshing!

Check out the rest of my pictures from Julie C.’s album launch after the jump.
Yesterday I showed you my little shopping trip with Canadian singer/song writer Julie C., and since we’re all so excited for Julie’s sophomore album here’s a video for the song Tomorrow to tie you over.
Such a great voice and this song has a certain quality that only comes from an artist so trained in various musical influences can have. And honestly, is she naked in the video?! You’ll have to watch to find out.
Music | Shopping With Julie C. At SOOS Rocks Accessories

Last week I had the wonderful chance to join singer/songwriter Julie Crochetière on a little shopping trip to the SOOS Rocks studio. Now known as Julie C., Crochetière is celebrating the release of her sophomore solo album, Steady Ground.
You may know or recognize Julie C. because she was one of the members of Sugar Jones. The pop group that was created after the first season of the Canadian version of Popstars. How I remember all of us singing this song and the rest of the album from Sugar Jones during elementary school.
Julie C. has now been on her own, first releasing her debut solo in 2003, an EP called Café. In 2007, Julie later produced 2007’s full-length album, A Better Place. Exploring a soul-jazz on her solo debut A Better Place, Julie told me that she’s now creating a different sound that her fans are not use to, ”It’s nothing like everyone is use to, like those who do follow and have heard my previous things, this is very different.”
Now, I’ve had the pleasure and opportunity to listen to the whole CD after Julie gave it to me over coffee. Julie has created a contemporary sound, that fuses soul, cool pop influence but still maintaining that modern jazz feel she’s known for.

We were at the SOOS Rocks studio because Julie needed some accessories for multiple events, TV appearances and her anticipated album launch party.
In the above picture, a vintage dress that Julie brought in that she plans to get tailored adjusting the length towards the front and raising it. She also wanted the possibility of adding, “a sort of feather, like a two sided thing.” A fun little show piece for sure, and dare I say, we may have a budding designer? Perhaps? Definitely knowing what she wants and knows what works for her body. “I need to break it up with some brown and some earthy things so that’s why when I look at this, (picking up a large Ostrich feather earring) I think it could be really cool and quirky and different — or even put it in my hair! You know? We’re really going for that vintage feel.”

Spotting an over-sized ornament earring, Julie jokes and makes to put it on and I quickly snapped these fun shots!

I highly recommend Julie’s new album, fusing catchy and songs that make you want to get up and dance. So make sure to pre-order your copy! The album is out March 2nd!
