Beauty | Tom Ford Lavender Palm Eau De Parfum

Harry Rosen has recently launched (earlier this week) Tom Ford Lavender Palm the latest fragrance from the Tom Ford Private Blend Collection. Inspired by California, Lavender Palm perfectly captures its sparkling sunlight, natural blossoms, and expansive coastlines.
With the interplay of two types of lavender, Lavandin and Lavender Absolute, Tom Ford Lavender Palm is a creative take on the free-spirited ethos and chic elegance that defines California. Surrounded by bright citrus notes, moist palm leaf accord, clary sage, sensual woods and smooth tonka bean, this stylish remix of the earthy lavender note is sparkling, sensuous and surprisingly refined.
The packaging for the Tom Ford Private Blend Collection is inspired by the dark brown glass colouring of the apothecary bottles used in perfumer’s work rooms. The 50 ml flacon is created to be weighty in the hand and has the sleek architectural look of a chess piece.
Tom Ford Lavender Palm is available in the 50ML bottle ($215 CDN) at Harry Rosen in Toronto (82 Bloor Street West), Calgary (TD Square), Montreal (Les Cours Mont Royal), and online at HarryRosen.com

Preview | Harry Rosen S/S 2012

I’m getting really excited for Spring this year! What with coloured bottoms, prints and relaxed tailoring - the sun can’t come fast enough! In a world of seemingly terribly dressed men, Harry Rosen sees to change that. Here are my favourites and key trends from the Harry Rosen S/S 2012 preview.
Let’s begin with men’s suiting, from fashion forward checks like the Dolce & Gabbana suit (below) to re-invented pinstripe suits (like the one above) from Ermenegildo Zegna - modern tailoring is refined with impeccable styling and accented with pops of bright ties and pocket squares.

A modern day bohemian man has emerged with his layered looks of printed shirts, leather bombers and light-weight denim. Shoes are an important item to any wardrobe and that is no different for this well dressed man, dessert boots, deck shoes and subtle sneakers in neutral shades in suede. Harry Rosen always has a great selection of Lanvin sneakers, some of my tops picks for every season!

I’m absolutely OBSESSED with this Versace printed shirt, I need it in my wardrobe so badly!

It’s taken some time, due to computer and camera issues but I have some great trend reports from Canadian menswear retailer, Harry Rosen.
It’s always a trivial task looking for menswear and it’s often that menswear changes very subtly. But, Fall 2011 has some great alternatives and progressive alternatives that a lot of men are starting to accept. Luxurious fabrics, daring colours and a nonchalant approach to dressing has taken men’s style to new heights.

Layering is a trend that is heavily influencing the coming season and essential pieces like cashmere sweaters, tailored flannel trousers, light weight scarves, pocket squares and suede belts are musts!
Take a look at the soft shouldered jacket seen below and above paired perfectlywith a light-weight cardigan jeans and shirt. An easy wearable ensemble for that urban professional on his off hours!

Event | Harry Rosen Presents: ‘Underground Lounge’ with The Darcys

Last night, Fashionights was invited to the first ever, ‘Underground Lounge’ at Harry Rosen on Bloor St. in Toronto.
A newly produced event, Harry Rosen chose a local Toronto band to rock invited guests in the surroundings of beautifully constructed clothes.
The Canadian based, men’s fashion store plans to continue its ‘Underground Lounge’ with various artists in the future as a way to promote the store and we look forward to it!
The Darcys definitely brought the house down with their alternative rock and we were thoroughly impressed…

Check out The Darcys MySpace and website for great music!
They also have a Twitter for which you can tell them everyday how much you love them!
More pictures can be seen after the jump!

Harry Rosen’s buying team previewed their Spring/Summer 2011 collection to media and their view of the upcoming season is “relaxed sophistication.”
New Cut Suits, Travel Appropriate pieces; providing functionality and practicality, military inspired sportswear and preppy looks evolved into a more stylish relaxed aesthetic.
Harry Rosen introduces the Globe Trotting Equipped collections this season, which offers many items to ease the travel worries. Things like lightweight, wrinkle resistant, and breathable fabrications, and pieces that wick moisture and repel water.
One key and vital piece that stood out amongst the rest was the Ermenegildo Zegna zero weight suit ($2595). Made with a silk blend, the suit offers the wearer the ultimate in luxury suiting. With the stucture and look of a regular suit the suit provides comfort and freedom from the confines of it’s regular counterpart. Literally weighs nothing! A sheet of paper weighs more.

These are my FAVOURITE thing(s) from the preview, stunning red suede driving show, want them, need them, I’m buying them.

Shopping | Harry Rosen’s Fall/Winter Denim Preview

When men think denim, the immediate thought is not Harry Rosen, but the luxury menswear retailer is looking to change this notion.
Last week I was invited to preview the denim collections at the flagship Harry Rosen store on Bloor Street . Representatives from brands such as Rock & Republic, Nudie Jeans, and Will.i.am’s line, ‘i.am’, were on hand to help find the perfect denim.
The first pair I tried on were from the i.am collection. The jeans were dyed a beautiful gray wash and were very comfortable but I found the style to be a little on the loose side. I find that being short, denim with a slimmer to skinny style suit me better because I need pull off the illusion of looking taller. The i.am collection is great for the taller urban professional who enjoys a generous-relaxed fit in their denim.

I continued to try on more jeans and I came across a pair of Rock & Republic’s. These dark grey rinsed jeans were my second favourite; with their detailed back pockets and slimmer legs; not the most comfortable pair, but if there’s one thing you’ll know about me it’s that fashion takes precedence over comfort. I loved these ones because they fit very well and could be dressed up or down and easily transitioned from day to night.

Lastly, Nudie Jeans, which are my top pick for men’s denim. They have style, comfort, practicality and are well priced for a premium denim. If skinny jeans are not your thing, Nudie’s are not a good option because most styles have that slim-to-tapered look. The washes and rinses of Nudie Jeans are by far, superior to many lower end collections.
Check out Nudie’s looser fitting denim.

I hope this will help you gentlemen, who are searching for that perfect pair or pairs of F/W jeans.
Thanks to the team at Harry Rosen for letting me come in and find the perfect denim. Also, special thanks to Alexa of Rock & Republic and Nudie Jeans Co. and to Wayne of the i.am collection. You guys rock!

Event | Wet Cement Designers at Harry Rosen

The creators of Wet Cement clothing, Stef Zeh & Andrew Lee made a personal appearance at the flagship Harry Rosen and showed customers how their shirts are made, by using the silk screen technique. Customers purchasing a Wet Cement piece from the Fall 2010 collection, had the opportunity with Stef and Andrew to make a limited edition T!
Stef and Andrew started the line 3 years ago in 2007 as a way to chronicle and share their travels from around the world by using their photogrpahy as artwork for their line. The images are hand painted and done without the use of a computer or photo shop. Each piece is custom-screened by hand, making each shirt a unique piece of art!
Check out Wet Cement online, both on their website and become a fan on Facebook.
Shot & attended by new contributing blogger Nicholas-Sean Pantaleo, he did an excellent job covering the event. Make sure to follow him on Twitter and congratulate him on joining our team! More from him to follow!

Event | GANT by Michael Bastian Launch Party

rr

Last night, Harry Rosen played host to the GANT by Michael Bastian launch.
Menswear designer, Michael Bastian was present to celebrate the launch, recently picked up by Harry Rosen.
GANT is the “true American sportswear” with traditional rugby style polo shirts, tweed & herringbone blazers, pull overs and anything else Ivy League attire. The epitome of western culture and lifestyle, the GANT collection caters to those who are conservative, demure and hesitate to loosen their ties. The typical Harry Rosen client.
Not my personal favourite in terms of style and dress, those of you that know me, know how I feel about the Abercrombie/Ralph Lauren look, but I do appreciate the combinations of fabrications and patterns, but we’ll talk when I see a draped tshirt. But, we all know that will never happen, GANT isn’t built on that aesthetic.
What do you think?
To learn more and see full collections and videos from GANT, visit their website.
