A modern day aristocrat was the theme that Dolce & Gabbana was after when they showed their men’s F/W 12/13 show during fashion week.
Calling the fall collection a “hymn to Italy,” Dolce & Gabbana channeled old world Italy with voluminous capes, gold braiding and lavish embroidery. The embroidery that wove it’s way into capes, coats, trousers and shearling jackets hinted to generations of past and velvet lapels on coats brought back aristocratic nostalgia. The brand’s signature distressed jeans and classic tshirts were paired with rugged boots and topped off with poor-boy caps. A lived-in feel. Fresh!

LGFW | Korhani Home S/S 2012

The best show award during LG Fashion Week is awarded to the Korhani Home S/S 2012 collection because to be quite honest, when you can have me, yes me, at the edge of his seat with awe, excitement and sheer giddy-twelve-year-old-girl anticipation, that there my friends, deserves an award. The home decor brand whose main focus is the creation of rugs for the home, turned it’s latest collection into an actual apparel collection.
Yes, these looks are made entirely of carpet and rugs, I know because I wore a piece from last collection to an event, and was dying because it was so incredibly itchy!

Korhani took us on a world tour, with a visit to Morocco, a retrospective into some Americana culture and a trip down a rabbit hole. With it’s first pieces resembling that of an African Safari, Korhani played up inspirations from the soft tans and taupes of the African outback and beading and prints from exotic Morocco!

I’d so wear this look, hell I’d even wear Korhani’s signature “Rug In A Box,” packaged rug if it had that trunk print on it! Too chic, it hurts!

LGFW | Baby Steinberg S/S 2012

Last week I showed you Baby Steinberg’s closing walk that had just shown during LG Fashion week, now I have the high-res photos and breakdown of the jaw-dropping collection.
Bringing the Brazilian heat to LG Fashion Week’s Canada Cool theme, the creative couturier astonished the crowd with her Eco-conscious collection. Steinberg is a strong voice for creating environmentally friendly designs and this season’s collection is no different with upcycling as the key element - she gave new life and vitality to discarded fabrics and materials from Brazilian manufacturing companies.

The collection titled, Remnants is inspired by the children of Brazil’s impoverished areas known as favelas, (Steinberg taught her art of recycling in charity programs at the favelas) she incorporated these experiences into her latest collection.
The colour palette of the collection was as vibrant and radiant as Brazil’s effervescent culture - hues of red, pink and orange dominated, while blue and shades of black and white added sophistication. And that use of feather detailing, to die for!

LGFW | Sid Neigum S/S 2012

Sid Neigum channeled is inner style warrior for a collection fit for and style rogue! With exaggerated eye brows that resembled that of Ancient Chinese art, the Spring/Summer 2012 collection saw the usual dark palette with the frequent use of layering, draping and a whole lot of androgyny!
Jersey, bull leather and sheer silks sees Neigum continue his avant-garde aesthetic; seriously, everything that he showed had my name written all over it!

This blue jacket is on LUST HAVE list, I need it to live!

LGFW | Robert Graham S/S 2012

Menswear designer, Robert Graham showed on Wednesday during LG Fashion week in the venue’s studio space where guests enjoyed celebratory drinks marking, Graham’s 10th anniversary.
Established in 2001, Robert Stock celebrated his milestone in the business with this retrospective called, The X Collection. Stock, who originally worked with Ralph Lauren and started CHAPS; saw that at that time, when premium denim was at it’s peak, Stock sought to create - re-invented the sports shirt rather, to go with the premium denim that was seen everywhere.

You’ll notice all the contrasting colours and patterns in the cuffs and on collars - and notice Stock’s mantra, Knowledge, Wisdom, Truth are embroidered throughout all his shirting.

Sarah Stevenson showed her latest collection in an installation format at today’s shows during LG Fashion Week. Simple, feminine and easy to wear, I don’t have much to say.
Putting on an outstanding performance, Korhani Home, shot to stellar heights with their S/S 2011 collection during LG Fashion Week! The rug company, now in its second season showing at LG Fashion Week, works primarily with rugs and carpets to create over-the-top pieces that pass more for art than fashion.
I still can’t believe they’re carpets! Like, it’s just jaw-dropping!
Collection | Versace Woman S/S 2012

Donatella brings sexy and it’s signature European glamour with it’s latest collection during Milan Fashion Week. A deviated aesthetic compared to the men’s S/S 2012 collection where we saw bold colours and high-impact prints of old-world Versace come to life. Versace taps into light pastel palettes with both tailored looks and refreshing airy pieces. Cinched waists, draped Grecian gowns, heavy grommet detailing and aquatic-printed ensembles made Versace’s S/S 2012 collection one that has both surprised and wowed me!
I just love the gold grommets in the dark separates, so glamorous with that classic Versace luxury and ostentatious feel! Although, some of you call it tacky and Gotti, well you know what, Gianni did it first and totally rocked it!

Event | MOON Apparel One Year Anniversary & Launch Of Menswear

Minimalism and the return to classic tailoring is what MOON Apparel has established themselves as for the year they’ve been around for women’s wear, now they intend on maintaining that brand aesthetic with their newly introduced, menswear collection!

You’ve all heard of Joe Fresh and the Mimram family; MOON Apparal is the result of Saul Mimran’s, Mimran Group that head the entire retail/fashion empire! MOON, came to fruition with the creative direction of Jordin Mimran and merchandising director, Tamara Mimran, Saul’s children! What a fresh family they are!
Taking over Canada (and now the States) with their fast-fashion monopoly. MOON Apparel is available exclusively at The Bay, but hey let’s not bank on that being the only place, you never know! Look at Joe Fresh, it was only available at Loblaw’s and their, then, two stand-alone stores. Now, Joe Fresh has popped up on 5th Ave. in New York!

Fashion Show | Lingerie Francaise Paris: Ladies Of The Silver Screen

Coined as one of the most important events in the fashion calendar of the year here in Toronto, the Lingerie Francaise show is one that one should definitely not miss. So why is it that now, for the second year in a row; I’ve missed the show! Who doesn’t want to see scantly-clad women, parading down the runway?!
A showcase of Fall 2011 & Spring 2012 collections, the show features the top lingerie houses straight out of France, which include the likes of Empreinte, Lejaby, Princesse tam.tam, GERBE and Simone Pérèle.

Held at it’s new home, at the Fermenting Cellar in the city’s trendy Distillery District, a quaint venue from what I heard from sources - which provided an appropriate atmosphere for a show that drew inspiration from Sirens of the silver screen.
Hosiery, lace, brassieres and even fur made the show complete with an array of colour palettes well suited for the coming seasons. Elegant and luxurious in design the European intimates lines wowed the crowd in a flamboyant display of prints, embroidery and elustrious textiles!

LG Fashion Week | JOE Fresh A/W 2011/2012

There’s no doubt that the Joe Fresh show during Toronto Fashion Week draws big crowds including the famed. However, big crowds don’t necessarily mean it will be a great collection. JOE’s A/W ‘11-‘12 collection definitely had some hits and some misses. The biggest miss to me was it’s intricate frills on tops, beaded skirts and feathered accessories that looked too detailed for a collection that can be bought at a grocery store. My concern is that grocery shoppers will think this is their ‘in’ to high fashion. However, Joseph Mimran did a great job with this collection and almost gave the appearance of his Club Monaco days.
Each piece came in fabulous colors of purples, oranges, sky blue and greens. Pants, skirts and dresses came in both three-quarter-length and just above the feet.
Some of my favorite pieces included a sheer top with double-breasted pockets, a knitted mustard colored dress, a gold/metallic skirt and a black sequined skirt…

Overall, most of the pieces were wearable and drew in fabulous colors. If there’s one thing to take away from this collection, it’s that Joseph Mimran truly is the veteran of creating great looks for less.

LG Fashion Week | SHAN Swimwear 2011/2012

SHAN Swimwear is a design studio specializing in couture swimwear. Created by Ms. Chantal Levesque, the Montreal based designer also creates lingerie and accessories for both men and women. Started in 1985, her company now exports its collection to over 20 countries including France, Britain, the United States, Russia and Australia. SHAN has shops located in Toronto, Miami, Montreal, Laval and St-Sauveur.
SHAN’s latest collection for 2011/2012 was a dreamy recreation of what the style conscious wear at the beaches in the south of France. The models were decked in pearls, bracelets and giant hats as they strutted with confidence down the runway. The line had something for everyone; From full bikini’s to a one piece, it gave room for both the confident and the shy. Beautiful ruffled bikinis to pleated pants were some of my favorites.
The mens swimwear featured blue and black trunk styles and looked very sexy as the chiseled models flirted with the crowd….

Overall, the collection was a throwback to 1950’s swimwear (which I miss). This was apparent in the polka dot bikini when all I kept singing in my head was “I’m in Miami B*t*h.” If you’re looking for the hottest trending swimwear this summer, SHAN does it best with their Rivieran twist.
