Lust Have | Diesel Indigo Denim Backpack

I’m currently obsessed with buying a fun chic backpack but I’m incredibly picky and I just don’t like anything and do not justify some of the price points that designers dish out on retail costs! Never happening, ever. But, our friends over at Diesel came up with this bad boy which I have yet to see in stores or anything! I was browsing through SSENSE and I saw it, fell in love and now really want it!

This oversize denim backpack in dark wash features a fold over flap closure of the compartment with tonal drawstring closure with silver tone grommets at main. I think what I love most about it is it’s dark brown leather straps with pin buckle closure, like hello, can you imagine how good they’ll look when they’re old?! Amazing. It’s padded at the back so that’ll provide comfort and back support, especially when I’d have a million things in it! I just really would love to see it all beat up and ruined! Remember Diesel denim only gets better with age!

The bag retails for $360 CDN, what do you guys think? Yay or nay?

Event | Diesel Spring/Summer 2012 Preview

Our friends over at Diesel had a preview for their Spring 2012 collection available now at their flagship store at 92 Yorkville. With an an exclusive presentation with LOULOU’s Shopping Editor, Liv Judd (love her) and Flare’s Fashion News Editor, Mosha Lundström Halbert, the two reviewed their top 10 trends for Summer with Diesel’s I am Who I am collection (I’ll have a video with that coming soon).

The re-launch of the Diesel womenswear line is a completely new collection with a fresh approach. The line boasts superior quality and improved silhouettes bringing together the best of the label’s heritage and an extra dose of daring Diesel attitude.

But it’s not just their core collection that’s changed, the iconic denim Diesel has become known for has changed - and do be quite honest, I’m not sure if I’m liking it.
I’ve been wearing Diesel jeans for years and I’ve had a few favourites that I’ve always worn. My one favourite has been the Matic fit, a great low rise fit with a slim leg and tapered bottom, I’ve always loved these because they were made longer, the yolk of the jeans fit higher and I found the band at the waist to be wider.
Now, that fit is available in a 32” inseam leg (I need at least a 34”) the yolk lower and the rise I find fits awkward on me. I know only because I went into the store a week before the event to buy a new pair. I was discouraged, because I know what I like, and I can’t stand change when it comes to my denim. Now, that’s not to say I can’t find a new favourite, I didn’t have time to try other styles so I’m not sure how other styles fit.
Launched earlier this month, the Fit Your Attitude collection of jeans redefines what denim means: jeans that flatter your body and fit who you are. Every pair of Diesel Fit Your Attitude jeans has been redesigned from the ground up, based on extensive new body shape research, which involved taking the measurements of more than 20,000 women.
But more than just guaranteeing the most body-enhancing shapes, each style in the range has been uncompromisingly crafted to complement a specific set of attitudes. Fit Your Attitude is a concept which combines five different fits including Grupee, Bootzee, Getlegg, Myguy and Flairlegg.

Collection | Diesel Black Gold Man F/W 12/13

Diesel Black Gold’s take on rock ‘n’ roll certainly puts it in a different category than it’s generic label. The brand’s higher end label sent leather pants, moto-style jackets, thick-knit pull overs and tailored, edgy suits. That first shot of the striped waist coat and pants with the three quarter length coat is totally pimping and channeling Mick Jagger.

A very wearable collection from Renzo Rosso’s Diesel Black Gold. Want these pants!

TIFF | Diesel & ONEXONE Present: Lupe Fiasco, Kardinal Offishall + more

This was it! A concert during TIFF that had the public, celebs and myself jumping around like monkeys!! Diesel & ONEXONE presented a sick concert that consisted the talents of Lupe Fiasco, Kardinal Offishall, Melanie Fiona, Jully Black and more.

Thanks to my friends at Diesel here in Canada, I was invited to join the likes of Stereos, band member, Daniel (who has become a regular on Fashionights), local Toronto personalities and employees of Diesel from around Canada, to the VIP Diesel Lounge. Strategically placed, in front of the stage, at a perfect distant that we overlook the crowd, it was as if we had front row seats! Except with an open bar, jelly beans and 5-Star hors d’oeuvres.

I got to meet some new friends! LOVE Fashion Friends! So hoping that Ben, who works at Diesel Flagship store in Toronto would be there (because he said he would be), but ended up being a no show, boo! Nonetheless, had a B.L.A.S.T. and regret nothing.

I totally thought that Kardinal was a major bust, but I get why people like him. Ok, there I said it; he definitely gets an entire room moving!

Beauty | Only The Brave Fragrance: Captain America Edition

Diesel knows how to market themselves! They did the same things and released an Iron Man limited-edition version of their signature fragrance when the first Iron Man movie came out too!

A brilliant illustrator portrayed the ultimate encounter between the most iconic men’s fragrance and the most legendary superhero. Bryan Hitch gave life to the Only The Brave Captain America limited edition.

Preview | Diesel’s Divina Bag

Diesel’s latest and most iconic bag named Divina is being introduced for A/W 2011. An expression of surpassing denim excellence and is representative of what successful living stands for.

The Divina in denim has been on rotation in the Spring/Summer 2011 ad campaign but the other two styles will be available for A/W 2011.

Available in three variations, the premium denim bags are manufactured in the same manner as the denim lines, going through the same washing process as 5 pockets do. What does that mean? The bags have shaded color effects and a worn naturally used look.

Emphasized with black leather handles and trims, the Divina expresses Diesel’s DNA in every aspect. The Divina bag stands for treatment know-how: it comes to life through different outcomes; it has the ability to be reinvented in many variations, and simply represents the essence of Diesel.

The soft foldable construction of the sides is perfectly proportioned with its size, allowing both the shouldercomfort of a flat bag as well as extreme space through its tridimensional shape once open.

Each bag goes through a long process of treatments in order to give it a naturally used and vintage look. The dirty sand treated denim and leather Divina, aka the supreme bag, is defined by treatments that create uneven and unique products, making each bag is different from one another. The dirty wash process gives the bag its ‘rusted’-like color. The handmade application of resin on some parts of denim result in a contrasting shaded color effect, while the shade treatment enhances the shaded color effect and gives it a peculiar dirty sand nuance.

The blue denim and leather garment washed Divina with rivets and embroidery is handscratched and manually treated with sand paper, while the golden spray treatment oxidizes and bleaches the denim, giving the bag its Diesel character.

The grey embossed denim and leather garment washed Divina has a particular treatment. A silicone pattern that is placed under the denim gives the material its decorative element: fake croco. The pumice stone wash creates a natural vintage effect.
